Food has played a huge part in my life for as long as I can remember. Even in my college days at Spelman College where I received a Bachelor of Arts in English, I was always cooking up something in the kitchen of Bessie Strong Hall. After graduate school, my passion for food led me to follow my dream of becoming a chef. My professional experience includes stints at Alara Wholefoods in London, Chops Lobster Bar and Alon's both in Atlanta, and L'Absinthe Brasserie and Restaurant in New York. I believe in the importance of seasonality and supporting local growers and food producers. I received formal culinary training at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. I was lucky to land a position as a Culinary Researcher and Coordinator for the Food Network show, Good Eats. My interest in food writing enabled me to earn a coveted position as Assistant Foods Editor at Southern Living Magazine. I frequently appeared as a Food and Entertaining Expert on Southern Living Step by Step and Southern Living Presents. In 2003, I took a leap of faith and launched All About Foods. I appeared on Turner South as the Food and Entertaining Expert for Southern Home by Design.
